Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting (HLTAID012)

Overview

Written for people who work with children. Alongside core first aid and CPR, this course focuses on the emergencies that actually happen in early learning and school settings: asthma attacks, anaphylaxis, febrile convulsions, and the practicalities of managing a medical emergency while supervising a room full of children. It meets the education and care requirements under the National Quality Framework.

What you will learn

• Provide first aid to infants and children
• Perform CPR on infants, children and adults
• Manage asthma and administer an inhaler
• Recognise anaphylaxis and administer an adrenaline autoinjector
• Respond to febrile convulsions and seizures
• Meet ACECQA and NQF first aid requirements
• Complete incident records to regulatory standards

Prerequisites

Online pre-course learning, completed before the practical day.

Assessment

Written questions and practical scenarios, including infant CPR and autoinjector use.

Certificate issued

Statement of Attainment for HLTAID012 (includes HLTAID011 and HLTAID009).
